Q: What services does your office have for First Year Students at Texas Tech University?
Well, my favorite service we offer to first year students is also available to anyone on our beautiful campus. It is our MAP service. This is a free Motorist Assist Program that is available 24 hours a day by calling 742-MAPP. If you are on campus and have car trouble, we can assist you with a battery boost, airing up a tire, a gallon of gas, or a vehicle unlock at no cost.
Q: What do you enjoy most about your job?
Being able to help someone out of a jam. I work overnight and receive many calls from someone stranded on campus with nobody else to call. I have a son who is about to be in college, and I would want someone to help him out in a similar situation.
Q: What is your favorite thing about Texas Tech and why?
Texas Tech is like a big family. I run into Tech fans all the time when I travel, and we always end up talking like we are old friends.
Q: What is your favorite spot on campus?
I love the water falls at Memorial Circle around the flag poles. I go out there at night when it is quiet and listen to the mild rush of the water. It is very peaceful.
Q: What advice would you give first year students?
Slow down and soak it all in. The next few years will fly by, and you will miss out on some wonderful experiences if you are not careful.
Q: Looking back to your first year, what would you change? What would you do the same?
I would not change anything. Texas Tech is home to me.
Q: What is your favorite place to eat in Lubbock?
So many places to choose from, but the first thing that comes to mind is Aloha BBQ Grill. It is a little hole-in-the-wall place, but the food is amazing. Always hot and fresh.
Q: What are some hobbies you have?
Spending time with family and playing basketball.
Q: What is your favorite Tech Tradition?
The Carol of Lights. It gives me that small town community feeling.

Parking on Campus
Transportation and Parking Services registers vehicles electronically based on license plate numbers and issues an ePermit to park in specified lots around campus. If you would like to register your vehicle to park on campus, you can do so by logging into your Parking Account.
